Green Cottage was made out of stone from Quarry Lane. The house next to Green Cottage is the old post office and that is why it is called The Old Post Office. The Green Cottage was originally two houses and the lighter colour of bricks on the left was a second door.

You lived down stairs and you had to use a ladder to get upstairs.
The cottage is about 300 years old.

By the side of the main bread oven is an ash collector. You use a rake to push all the ash through a little wooden door. The ash falls in to a bucket and when the bucket is full you empty it out.
